Work on the Dubai Festival City began in 2003 and it is one of the ambitious projects to be undertaken. The project which spans 3.8 km of water front on the eastern side of Dubai Creek is about 2 km from Dubai International Airport. This is one of the newest shopping destinations of Dubai, but when completed it is bound to become Dubai’s most prominent shopping venues. After completion, it is expected to be the largest mall in Dubai with an area of 2.1 million square feet with over 550 shops, 90 international restaurants, 10-lane bowling alley, covered car parking for 7,000 cars, and a 12-screen cinema complex which is located along Canal Walk.
Dubai Festival City has plans to provide living accommodation to over 50,000 inhabitants who would be residing in 20,000 apartments, townhouses, and villas. The place is easily accessible through the 13-lane Business Bay Crossing, Airport Tunnel, and the 12-lane Garhoud Bridge. It has plans to provide the ultimate in luxury homes and the houses are designed to suit the lifestyles of various sections of people. Different styles of luxury homes are on offer here to suit different lifestyles and affordability – studios, apartments, townhouses, duplexes, penthouses, and villas. One of the most important features of Dubai Festival City is its interconnectivity which allows the residents to live and work within the community. Education plays a vital role in Dubai Festival City’s community and development facilities. There are two schools here which cater to the needs of about 5,000 students. The Deira International School is run as per the British curriculum while the Universal American School follows the American curriculum.

One of the unique things that you will see at the Festival Centre is the Skywalk Level which has its own Skywalk Food Express with a collection of restaurants and eateries.
